Admission Requirements
Thank you for your interest in graduate programs within the UGA Interdisciplinary
Toxicology Program. This program offers a Master of Science and Ph.D.
in Toxicology. A successful graduate applicant must be accepted by
a Faculty of the Toxicology Program before
admission into the program.
Each semester we have students mail information to the wrong place!! This means that the applicant's file remains incomplete until we locate the missing items. Please, please read this entire section carefully before you submit any information!! As always, you can contact us with any questions. toxinfo@uga.edu
Admissions Requirements*
- A complete application must be submitted to the Graduate School. The application can be found online at: http://www.uga.edu/gradschool/admissions/request.html
- Transcripts and GREs and/or TOEFL scores must be submitted to the Graduate School. The Institution Code is 5813.

- At least 2 letters (3 preferred) of recommendation, preferrably from professors should be submitted to the Graduate School online link provided automatically to your references. These can also be mailed or emailed directly to the Toxicology Program.
- A current resumé and a statement of purpose should be mailed or emailed directly to the Toxicology Program:

- Complete applications should be received by the Tox Program by December 15th in order to receive full consideration of University and Program Assistantships. Remember - Applications are processed at the Graduate School first and then forwarded to the Tox Program, which could take several days.
- Applications received after Dec 15th by the Tox Program will be reviewed according to Graduate School guidelines, but may not receive consideration for funding.
- All completed applications will be reviewed by the ITP Admissions Committee. This year the first review takes place on 18 November. As additional completed applications arrive, additional review sessions will occur.
- Recommendations of Acceptance will usually be sent to the Graduate School soon after each review session. The Graduate School will then send notifications to applicants.
- All successful Tox applicants must have a Tox Faculty member who has agreed to take on/serve as Major Advisor to the student. The applicant must identify faculty working in areas of interest, then begin a dialogue with those faculty members. The Tox Office should be kept informed of your progress in this area. A new feature on the "Faculty" page lists those faculty members who have stated they are looking for a Toxicology applicant for Spring or Fall 2012.
- ****IMPORTANT NOTE: The GRE General Test is changing. The test format and content are changing and the score scale is changing from the current scale of 200-800 for the verbal and quantitative sections to a scale of 130-170. The first date the new test will be given is August 1, 2011. (Watch for new information on minimal acceptable GRE scores. This is changing.)
- It is recommended that an applicant for an MS degree should have a GPA of 3.0.
- It is recommended that a PhD applicant who has a MS should have a graduate GPA of 3.5.
- It is recommended that a PhD applicant with a BS should have a GPA of 3.3.
- Current ITP MS students who wish to transfer to the PhD program should submit a full application including GRE scores and letters of recommendation to the ITP program office for consideration by the Admissions Committee.
