
The Interdisciplinary Toxicology program consists of two primary areas of focus:
Core courses for both tracks in the Ph.D. program are Introductory Toxicology, Toxicology of Agricultural and Industrial Chemicals, Intermediate Biochemistry or Advanced Biochemistry, and Environmental Statistics or Design of Experiments for Research Workers.
The Environmental Toxicology Ph.D. Program electives include Aquatic Toxicology, Quantitative Ecological Toxicology, Population and Community Ecology, Systems and Ecosystems Ecology, Environmental Chemistry and Environmental Risk Assessment.
The Human and Animal Toxicology Ph.D. Program offers elective courses in Organ Systems Toxicology, Comparative Mammalian Physiology, Human Physiology, and Cellular Pathology.
The Masters program core courses for both the Environmental and Human and Animal Toxicology tracks are Introductory Toxicology and Chemical Toxicology.
The Masters program for the Environmental Toxicology track requires also Aquatic Ecological Toxicology and Quantitative Ecological Toxicology. Both tracks also require 15 to 20 hours of electives to be determined by the student's advisory committee.
Assistantship opportunity for entering PhD students (Fall 2008) - Georgia Oceans and Health Initiative
A new research and training program at UGA in Oceans and Human Health is currently accepting applications for competitive fellowships for doctoral students entering in Fall 2008. Fellowships are targeted at students with an interest in the emerging cross-disciplinary field of ocean science and human health. Research tracks are available in aquatic toxicology, microbial ecology and climate change. Fellows will receive a stipend, tuition waiver, research and travel support. Additionally, students will have internship opportunities with NOAA labs in South Carolina and Florida as well as state and federal public health agencies.
